INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr Peter Lenz, and in accordance with requirements of the San Joaquin County
Public Health Services-Environmental Health Division(PHS-EHD),Advanced GeoEnvironmental,
Inc (AGE) has prepared this Site Assessment Work Plan for additional investigation of the former
underground storage tank (UST) area at 1648 Shaw Road, Stockton, California The site setting is
illustrated in Figure 1 A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2
Two USTs were removed from the site in 1986 Five soil probe borings were advanced at the site
in September 1997 and petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples analyzed Impacted
soil was encountered to a depth of 50 feet bsg, with the higher concentrations occurring 10 feet to
30 feet bsg The lateral extent of impacted soil toward the north and west has not been defined
Ground water samples were not collected Site background and previous investigation are
summarized in the Preliminary Site Investigation Report, dated 30 December 1997 and prepared by
AGE
This Work Plan is prepared in accordance with PHS-EHD and Central Valley Regional Water
. Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) guidelines
2.0. SCOPE OF WORK
Based on the results of laboratory analysis of soil samples collected during removal of the USTs and
previous site assessment activities, the PHS-EHD is requiring additional assessment to determine
the lateral and vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil and ground water
To achieve the objectives of the PHS-EHD's additional required assessment, the scope of work of
this work plan includes advancement and sampling of four soil borings to collect soil and ground
water samples, and completion of one boring as a ground water monitoring well/soil vapor extraction
well If necessary, additional borings will be advanced to adequately characterize the lateral and
vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted soil Ground water is estimated to currently occur at
approximately 50 to 55 feet below surface grade (bsg), based on data obtained from ground water
monitoring wells located near the site
If necessary, additional investigation and/or remediation will be addressed in a subsequent work plan
addendum Tasks for the investigation of the extent of petroleum hydrocarbons at the site are
described below
