14 May 1999 <br /> • AGE-NC Project No 97-0343 <br /> Page 2 of 6 <br /> 2 1 PERMITTING AND PRE-FIELD WORK ACTIVITIES <br /> Applicable site assessment permits will be obtained from the PHS-EHD Prior to mobilization, the <br /> soil boring locations will be clearly marked and a utility clearance obtained through Underground <br /> Service Alert <br /> 22 SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Four soil borings will be advanced in the vicinity of the former USTs Proposed boring locations are <br /> illustrated on Figure 2 Two borings will be located north of boring B-5, a third will be located west <br /> of the former UST pat The fourth boring will be located northeast of the former UST pit The four <br /> borings are proposed to be advanced to approximately 65 feet bsg, however, total depths of the <br /> borings will be based on field observations and field screening using an organic vapor monitor <br /> equipped with a photo-ionization detector(PID) precalibrated to isobutylene Soil samples will be <br /> collected from each boring at five-foot intervals beginning at 15 feet bsg Field procedures for <br /> advancement of borings and collection of soil samples are presented in Section 3 1 and 3 2 <br /> 2 3 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND DEVELOPMENT <br /> One dual-completed ground water monitoring/soil vapor extraction well will be installed northeast <br /> of the former USTs Iocation The ground water monitoring well will consist of 20 feet of screen <br /> section installed across the observed water table level Based on the current ground water level at <br /> the site,the total depth of the monitoring well will be approximately 65 feet bsg A second screened <br /> section will be installed from approximately 15 to 3 5 feet bsg for use as a vapor extraction well <br /> Following installation, the monitoring well will be developed to maximize water flow into the well <br /> and to minimize the quantity of fine-grained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or <br /> bailing Procedures for well completion and development are presented in Sections 3 4 and 3 5 , <br /> respectively <br /> 24 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION <br /> Following installation, the monitoring well will be purged and sampled Ground water sample <br /> collection procedures are described in Section 3 6 <br /> Advanced GeoEnviron mental,Inc <br />
