Hazelton Avenue <br /> Stockton, CA 95205 <br /> Subject: Supplemental Information, Sims Metal Management <br /> Stockton, CA CERS I.D.# 10183391 <br /> Inspection of July 6, 2020 <br /> Dear Mr. Aianiz <br /> Below is the supplemental information you were inquiring per our phone conversation <br /> on October 5, 2020. <br /> SMM takes environmental compliance seriously and appreciates the opportunity to <br /> respond to the concerns of the San Joaquin County, Environmental Health Department. <br /> We make every effort to ensure the safety of our employees, community, and <br /> environment. For your convenience, pertinent portions of the Notice to Comply(NOC) <br /> are reproduced below, along with our responses. The concems raised in the NOC are <br /> bolded and italicized below. <br /> 1. Violation#102-Failed to determine if a waste is hazardous waste. <br /> Observation 1: Housekeeping has taken place and items have been swept, properly stored <br /> and labelled. <br /> Piles of aluminium have been removed. Secondary containment has been cleaned. (Please <br /> refer to attached photo from previous response-Exhibit 1). <br /> Observation 2: Ferrous material is cleaned up with a magnet and then dirt is contained and <br /> sent for proper disposal as non-RCRA hazardous waste. <br /> Observation 3: Sims MM adheres to our Inbound Source Control Policy. If in the event an <br /> item is identified after the fact and deemed as hazardous, it is then contained, stored and set <br /> aside for further proper disposal The item found during your visit, "2 oz. Rx-acid <br /> Scavenger" is an acid neutralizer lubricant. It has been properly stored in our flammable <br /> storage locker until we can find how to properly dispose. We have printed out an SDS to <br /> keep onsite. <br /> Observation 4: Third party company that picks up hazardous waste solids is Environmental <br /> Logistics based out of Hayward (3200 Depot Road, Hayward, CA 94545). <br /> Observation 5: Meth-IA5 container was picked up and properly stored in until we can find <br /> how to properly dispose. <br /> Sims Metal Management <br />
