Workplan for Aquifer Pumping Test,
Well Installation&Well Destruction
Southwest Hide Company,Manteca,CA
Project No.W0508.00
Page 4
or until fluid stabilizes. Response will be monitored in the extraction well and also in two
temporary wells and existing wells 5, 15, and 17 throughout the tests. It is proposed that
extracted groundwater be discharged directly to the adjacent field for the duration of the test.
The concentration of TDS in well 8 was 192 milligrams per liter (mg/P) during the last
monitoring episode in June 1993. The concentration of TDS in Well 8 has consistently been
well below the maximum contaminant level of 1000 mg/f established by the State of California
for drinking water (Second Quarter 1993 Groundwater Monitoring Report, Southwest Hide
Company Facility, RESNA Industries, Inc., June 28, 1993).
Task 6 - Abandon Temporary Monitoring Wells
Following the completion of the aquifer pumping test the two temporary monitoring wells will
be abandoned according to the procedures outlined in Task 2.
Task 7 - Summary Report Preparation
A letter report will be prepared and submitted to the RWQCB and San Joaquin County
Department of Environmental Health. The report will detail test procedures and results and will
include an evaluation of the feasibility of groundwater remediation by extraction as part of the
GWRAP. This letter report will also include a summary of the well installations and
abandonments along with corresponding boring/well logs and analytical results.
PROJECTED SCHEDULE
The projected schedule for completing the tasks described above are as follows:
• Task 1 - Permitting and Scheduling 1 Week
• Task 2 - Abandon Two Existing Wells 1 Day
• Task 3 - Install Three Wells 1 Day
• Task 4 - Well Survey and Development 1/2 Day
• Task 5 - Conduct Aquifer Pumping Test 1 1/2 Days
• Task 6 - Abandon Two Temporary Wells 1 Day
• Task 7 - Summary Report Preparation 3 Weeks
WP-0893.FNL
