KLFINFFLDER & ASSOCIATES File No. S-2314-1
August 15, 1978
PAGE THREE
_ 5. Recommendations for site preparation
and grading.
6 . Recommendations for support of slab-
on-grade floors .
7 . Recommended structural section for
streets . .
8. Comments on temperature measurements .
SITE CONDITIONS
The site of the proposed Marway Estates is bounded
on the north by Eight-Mile Road, on the east by irrigated
farm land, on the south by Quashnick Road and on the west
by farm land and developed property. At the time of our
field investigation, the approximate northern half of the
site was covered with a sparse growth of weeds . The southern
half, however, was covered with a dense growth of vegetation
in areas as high as 7 feet. The remnants of two structures
1 were observed near the extreme northwest corner of the site.
1 The structures had been destroyed by fire leaving the
foundation exposed. In addition, we understand existing
wells are located in the vicinity of these structures and
also in the extreme southeast corner of the property. The
site is relatively flat and level .
FIELD EXPLORATIONS
The field explorations for this project were performed
on July 18 and 26 , 1978 , and consisted of the drilling and
sampling of 14 test borings . The borings were drilled to
depths varying from approximately 10 to 20 feet below the
existing ground surface. The borings were drilled with
6-inch diameter continuous flight auger-type drilling equipment
7
J
