Should sufficient soil contamination be
observed during the installation of this boring, a single monitoring well can be
installed in the downgradient direction during the same mobilization. This well
should be placed approximately ten feet away from the former tank pit in the
south west direction, the direction of groundwater flow documented at other sites
in the area. The placement of the well in this location would provide additional
soil data for lateral assessment and a strategic groundwater data point to aid in
the evaluation of additional assessment and cleanup needs.
In addition to the proposed chemical testing, the analysis of selected soil
samples for physical parameters such as organic carbon content, porosity, and
bulk density should be included, if site conditions warrant (if the contamination is
found to extend beyond the former tank pit area). This information would be
used to evaluate the potential fate and transport of the contamination over time.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
