m
S
SOIL SAMPLING [`J
Soil samples will betaken at 5.0' intervals starting at a borehole depth of 10.0'. Standard BX tube
samples will be taken from an eight inch hollow stem auger. Each soil tube will be capped with a
layer of aluminum foil secured by plastic caps, labeled for identification, and stored on ice for
transport to the laboratory. All bore holes will be logged during the drilling using the standard soil
classification method. Soil samples will be transported under a chain of custody to Sherwood Labs
of Hilmar, Ca. for analysis. Samples will be analyzed per EPA Methods 8020 (BTEX), (MTBE), and
5030/8015(M) TPH=Gasoline.
MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT
After soil sampling is completed, boreholes will be developed into four inch PVC cased monitoring
wells. Well depth, length of screened well casing and sand filter, and the location of bentonite plug
will be determined in the field by the (PHS-EHD) representative and Foothill Engineering.-Permits
for the monitoring wells and boreholes will be obtained by the drilling subcontractor from the (PHS-
EH). Monitoring wells will be developed and purged before gauging and water sampling.
Monitoring wells will be equipped with a locking cap and a cover suitable to support the traffic found
on the site.
MONITORING WELL TESTING
Each monitoring well will be gauged and water samples obtained and analyzed quarterly. A report
summarizing the quarterly results of gauging and testing of each monitoring well will be prepared by
the site owner's consultant.
SUMMARY
The workplan lan calls for Foothill Engineering to secure the services of a licenced drilling contractor
p l;
to drill three boreholes at the locations shown on the site drawing. Soil samples from the hollow
stemmed auger will be taken on five foot intervals during the drilling operation. Properly prepared
samples will be transported under chain of custody to Sherwood Labs. A report of the findings of the
drill hole logs and the soil sample analysis will be prepared by Foothill Engineering for review by all }
=concerned jia tes.
Please address any questions, corrections or additions to Ery Rifenburg, Foothill Engineering, Phone
209/368-9381
I
Respectfully submitted,
Foothill Engineering
Ery Rifenburg PE
