The scope of this investigation is based on the findings of soil samples <br /> taken during the original underground storage tank (UST) removal. ' <br /> SITE HISTORY <br /> The fuel tank removed from the site on May 22, 1987 was present on the site when the Burlington <br /> Brothers purchased the property. The(UST)was used by the previous owners to store and dispense <br /> gasoline. The (UST) was removed by Jim Thorpe Oil Co. on May 22, 1987 under the supervision <br /> of (PHS-EHD) accordance to the state and local regulations enforce on that date. <br /> Soil samples taken from under.the (UST)were analyzed by-anonie Environmental.:Results of this f <br /> analysis indicated 2800 mg/kg of Total Volatile Petroleum Hydrocarbons present @ 12' of depth <br /> under the (UST). See appendix for results of original soil samples. <br /> By a letter dated March 29, 1996, the (PHS-EHD) requested the Burlington Brothers to submit a <br /> work plan to investigate the site and determine the lateral and vertical extent of the contamination. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work for this investigation will concentrate on determining the nature and location of <br /> the contaminated soils in the area of the removed (UST). The gradient of the under ground water <br /> table will also be determined. Soil samples will be taken to learn the extent of the soil contamination <br /> in the vadose zone. Water samples from the established monitoring wells will be analyzed to <br /> determine if any contamination is present in the ground water. <br />
