In the <br /> event of an emergency, these extinguishers will be ready for the <br /> workers' safety and protection. <br /> 4 .9.2 Site Drilling <br /> Site drilling will comply with the following rules: <br /> Before drilling or excavating, the existence and <br /> location of underground pipe, electrical equipment, and <br /> gas lines shall be determined. This will be done by <br /> contacting Underground Service Alert (USA) at least 48 <br /> hours in advance of subcontractor arrival, to mark the <br /> location by use of appropriate device, such as a flux- <br /> gate magnetometer, to locate ferrometallic underground <br /> lines. <br /> Drill equipment operators and helpers in proximity to <br /> the drilling equipment will wear a full complement of <br /> protective gear. Wearing of all ppE including safety <br /> glasses, gloves and hard hats is mandatory. <br /> 4.9.3 Heavy Equipment operation and Heavy Materials Handling <br /> The following procedures will be established around heavy <br /> equipment such as backhoes and drill rigs and during handl-ng of <br /> heavy materials: <br /> Hard hats and vests are to be worn at all times on- <br /> site. other protective gear as specified in the health <br /> and safety plan is also applicable. <br /> Safe distances must be maintained from underground or <br /> overhead power lines, sewer lines, gas lines, telephone <br /> lines, or power lines that present a hazard in the work <br /> 4-24 <br />
