Water wells al: o
occur approximately 2000 feet to the east of the site. San
Joaquin County as well as state records indicate that groundwater
flows northeastward beneath the site and occurs at about 40--50
feet below surface.
Pacific tell facility UE042 presently containL-> three 25,000
gallon diesel UST's which supply fuel to electric generators. In
December 1990, two diesel UST's (300 gallon and 550 gallon) were
closed in place by filling with a cement slurry. 5ev4:.'al borings
were hand bored beneath the tanks and total petroleum
hydrocarbons expressed as diesel were found in the soil as high
as 22,000 ppm . The present investigation is being performed due
to this finding.
2.3 SITE HISTORY
The county and city have few records of the site. The site has
been owned by AT&T from the mid-1940's until 1963 when a grant
deed was issued to Pacific Bell.
j 2.4 SITE GEOLOGY/HYDROGEOLOGY
The site is underlain by unconsolidated fluvial sediments ranging
from clays to sands and mucks, peats and other organic-rich
soils. These in turn overlie other fluvial deposits.
Groundwater beneath the site occurs at about 40-50 feat and flows
to the northeast. This flow direction is dominated by
infiltration from the Port of Stockton slough and other offshoots
of the San Joaquin River (located to the west and southwest of
the site) and groundwater withdrawal from numerous water supply
wells (located to the east of the site at a distance greater than
a mile) .
2-2
