l <br /> When respirators are being used, they shall be cleaned at the end of the work <br /> shift using mild soap and warm water, and left to air dry. After drying, the <br /> respirator will be stored in a clean plastic bag. <br /> 5.3 Using Personal Protective Equipment <br /> All persons entering the EZ shall put on the required PPE in accordance with the <br /> requirements of this plan. When leaving the EZ, PPE will be removed in accordance with the <br /> procedures listed, in order to minimize the spread of contamination. <br /> 5.3.1 Donning Procedures <br /> These procedures are mandatory, only if Level C or higher PPE is required for the project: <br /> N <br /> Remove bulky outerwear. <br /> * Put on the required chemical protective coveralls. <br /> Put on chemical protective boots. <br /> • Tape the legs of the coveralls to the boots with duct tape. <br /> • Put on chemical protective gloves. <br /> ' Tape the wrists of the protective coveralls to the gloves. <br /> • Don respirator if required, and perform appropriate fit check. <br /> • Put hood or head covering over head and respirator straps. <br /> • Don remaining PPE, such as safety glasses or goggles and hard hat. <br /> If these procedures are instituted, one person shall remain outside the work area to ensure that <br /> each person entering has the proper protective equipment. No persons shall be allowed to <br /> enter an EZ if they are not wearing the required PPE. <br /> 5.3.2 Doffing Procedures <br /> Whenever a person leaves a Level C or higher work site, the following decontamination <br /> sequence will be followed: <br /> 1 • Upon enteringthe CRZ rinse contaminated materials s from the boots. <br /> • Clean reusable protective equipment. <br /> • Remove protective garments, equipment, and respirator. All disposable clothing <br /> should be placed in plastic bags, which are labeled with contaminated waste <br /> labels. <br /> • Wash face and neck. <br /> • Proceed to clean area and dress in clean clothing. <br /> • Clean and disinfect respirator for neat use. <br /> 1 <br /> MM5-09-94/UST/94-0064 5-3 <br />
