9. Any additional information , based upon the historical
background of your business, which could shed light to
the Public Works Department of the actual use and how it
reflects to the services?
Aero Turbine has been in business for just under ten ( 18)
years. Our primary business is the overhaul of jet
engines and their component parts, as well as, the
manufacture of component parts. Approximately ninety (98)
percent of our business is in U.S. government contracts.
Most of what we do is labor intensive . That is, we put a
great deal of labor , as opposed to materials, into the
product we sell . The type of manufacturing and repairs• we
do, does not require a great deal of water or sewer
services. However , because of the type of machinery and
test equipment required for this kind of work , we do use
a great deal of electrical power .
The propossed project adjacent to the Stockton airport ,
comes from our desire to enlarge our present facilities
to allow a greater volume of the type of work we
currently do. At the same time we wish to construct a
hangar which will allow us to expand into the aircraft
airframe maintenance business. The airframe maintenance
business would be similar to our engine maintenance
business in that , it is labor intensive , and we would be
working primarily with U.S. government contracts.
There are many regulations which we must follow when
performing on government contracts. Many of these
regulations are far more restrictive than are those of
various cities, counties, and states. Many of the
regulations we must follow, have to do with health and
safety. An example would be in the area of pollution . If
we should be found polluting the air , ground, or water ,
we could be elimiated from any U.S. government
contracting. We are subject to inspections by U.S.
government officials at any time . We are normally
inspected at least once each year to insure that we are
in compliance with the various government regulations.
If I can be of any further help to you , or should you have any
questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
AERO TURRBINE INC.
D. E. Clayt
President
