ProieCt Trip Generation
The trip generation for the project is anticipated to be very low in comparison to the
surrounding land uses in the study area. The greater majority of the traffic going in
and out of the project site would be from the employees going to and coming from
work there. There would be a small portion of traffic due to various pick-up and
delivery services. This additional traffic impact from the delivery vehicles could result
in a maximum of 20 additional trips per day. There are approximately 50 employees
at San Ramon location of Aero Turbine at the present time, and it is anticipated that
this number will grow to 250 employees in time with the relocation and construction
of the proposed jet engine repair facility.
For the short term, there would be 50 employees working at the new facility.
Employee related traffic would be virtually the only traffic entering and leaving the site
during the p.m. peak hour. During the p.m. peak time period then, there could be a
maximum of 50 vehicle trip ends. Typically, 80 percent of these trips would be going
out, and 20 percent would be inbound. In other words, there could be as much as 40
vehicle trips in the outbound direction, and 10 trips inbound during the p.m. peak
time period.
In the future as the Aero Turbine Jet Engine Repair Facility gradually expands its
operations, and the employee base grows to approximately 250 employees, then
there could be a maximum of 250 vehicle trip ends during the p.m. peak hour. Eighty
percent of the project traffic (200 vehicles) would be outbound and 20 percent or 50
vehicles would be inbound.
Cumulative Trip Generation
The cumulative traffic for the future within the study area was generated and assigned
to the street system by the computerized traffic model. The peak hour trip generation
rates that were used in this analysis are shown in Table II.
i
5
r
