mouth transfer and ingestion of material in any area <br /> designated as contaminated. <br /> Wash hands and face thoroughly upon leaving the work area. <br /> Whenever decontamination procedures for outer garments are in <br /> effect, wash the entire body thoroughly as soon., as possible <br /> after the protective garment is removed. <br /> - Do not allow personnel required to wear respirators to have <br /> facial hair which interferes with a satisfactory mask-to- <br /> face-seal. <br /> - Avoid contact with contaminated or suspected contaminated <br /> surfaces . Whenever possible, do not walk through puddles, <br /> leachate, or discolored surfaces, do not kneel on the ground, <br /> and do not lean, sit or place equipment on drums, containers, <br /> or the ground. <br /> Medicine and alcohol can worsen the effects from exposure to <br /> toxic chemicals . Do not take prescribed drugs if involved in <br /> operations where the potential for absorption, inhalation, or <br /> ingestion of toxic substances exists unless specifically <br /> approved by a qualified physician. Avoid drinking alcoholic <br /> beverages during response operations. <br /> 10 . 2 . 3 Safety Practice Site Safety Plana <br /> Develop a Site Safety Plan for all phases of site operations <br /> and make it available to all personnel . Unless time <br /> constraints interfere, write and post the plan. <br /> Ensure that all personnel be familiar with standard operating <br /> safety procedures (SOP) and any additional instructions and <br /> information contained in the Site Safety Plan. <br /> Ensure that all personnel adhere to the procedures <br /> established- in the Site Safety Plan. <br /> 10 . 2 . 4 Safety Practinas - Site OF rationa <br /> Adequately train and thoroughly brief all personnel going on <br /> site on anticipated hazards, equipment to be worn, safety <br /> practices to be followed, emergency procedures, and <br /> communications . <br /> Ensure that all personnel going into areas designated for <br /> wearing protective equipment wear the required respiratory <br /> protective devices and clothing. <br /> 10-3 <br />
