UST work on Building 120 is DERA funded and UST work on
Building 210 is funded by the Station. Therefore, the Board's review for UST Building 210 will be
forwarded under separate cover.
An investigation was performed by AGS to characterize potential residual soil and groundwater
contamination at the former UST 120 sites by collecting and analyzing additional soil samples and
installing and sampling groundwater monitoring wells. Residual contamination was found at UST 120-4
in the form of BTEX and TEH-Gasoline. Recommendations include additional sampling of soil and
continued monitoring of existing groundwater monitoring wells. We concur with the recommendations
presented in section 5.2 with one exception. The Navy should continue quarterly groundwater sampling
to ensure that seasonal fluctuations/flow direction in the shallow water-bearing zone (SWBZ) is
monitored.
Thank you for a comprehensive and well-written document. The Navy should submit a subsequent
document with the sampling and analysis of the soil data with an update of the groundwater quality.
If you have any questions contact me at (916) 255-3078.
K A.
