With regards to OWS Site 508, we have received the Final Work Plan for OWS Remedial
Investigation at Buildings 508 and 617, dated 30 January 2001.
The Navy's response to OWS site at Building 410A states that groundwater quality has been adequately
evaluated at the site based on information provided in a report by Tetratech Environmental Management,
Inc., and Levine-Fricke titled "Pre Draft Remedial Investigation, Operable Unit 1. " We have not
received a copy of the subject document. Nevertheless,we agree that past investigations at Site 6,
adjacent to OWS 410A, may provide information that can be directly correlated to the investigation of
the OWS at Building 410A. The Navy should submit additional information(i.e., maps, tabulated data)
and an evaluation of the data from both sites justifying the statement that an, "...additional groundwater
investigation is not warranted." We maintain that additional sampling may be warranted based upon the
Navy's assessment of the combined data. Depending upon the costs involved, the Navy may choose to
complete the current investigation by taking grab groundwater samples during the wet season as
proposed in our letter of 16 November 2000, and completing the investigation at OWS 410A.
If you have any questions please contact me at (916) 255-3078 or schwabk@rb5s.swrcb.ca..gov.
KfM A.
