01 April 2004
•t AGE-NC Project No 02-0950
• The vertical extent ofpetroleum-imp acted soil appears to be defined No target analytes were
detected in soil samples collected from 35, 45 and 50 feet bsg in boring B4, although TPH-g
and various BTEX compounds have been detected in boring MW2 and previous soil borings
' (B1, B2 and B3) to a depth of 35 feet bsg
• No target analytes were detected in soil samples collected from borings MW 1 and MW3,but
' low concentrations of TPH-g and various BTEX compounds were detected in samples
MW2-25 and MW2-35 Based on this investigation and previous site assessments, the lateral
extent of soil contamination has been defined to the west and the northeast, and generally
' defined to the south, but has not been defined towards the southeast or northwest
• Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in groundwater sample B4-H20 collected from
approximately 55 feet bsg at concentrations of 14,000µg/1 TPH-g, 11,000 µg/1 TPH-d,
' 11 µg/1 benzene, 260 µg/l toluene, 430 µg/l ethylbenzene, 2,650 µg/l total xylenes and
2 2 µg/l 1,2-DCA From this information the vertical extent of groundwater is not defined
' and presumably extends below 55 feet bsg
• TPH-g and BTEX compounds were detected in the water sample collected from well MW-2
at a concentrations of 2,000 µgd TPH-g, 6 1 µg/1 benzene, 650 Pg/1 toluene, 550 µg/1
'• ethylbenzene and 2,000 gg/l xylenes Ground water appears to be defined toward the west
and northeast but not in any other direction
I
5 0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based on the findings of the environmental activities recounted in this report, AGE recommends
• Initiate a quarterly monitoring program, the next monitoring event should be performed in
' Apn12004
• Performance of a sensitive receptor survey at the site
' • Additional assessment to further define the vertical extent of groundwater contamination, and
the lateral extent of ground water contamination towards the northwest, south and southeast
of the former UST excavation
6.0. LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and shill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based upon
• analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluation of the geologic/hydrogeologic
Advanced CeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
