number, date, time, sampler's initials, location, and analysis
required, and chilled in a cooler. Each sample will be logged on
chain-of-custody forms and in a field book.
The samples will be delivered to the lab in the cooler, accompanied by
the appropriate chain-of-custody forms.
For quality control purposes, j field blank will be submitted to the
laboratory along with well samples. One travel blank will also be
submitted. The field and travel blanks will be analyzed for BTX&E by
EPA Method 602.
All purge water from the development of the wells will be placed in
labeled 55-gallen drums and stored on site pending the results of the
groundwater analyses. If BTX&E concentrations in the groundwater
samples are in excess of Maximum Contaminant Levels3 (MCLS) for
California Drinking Water Standards, the drummed purge water
will be treated and/or disposed of in accordance with applicable State
and local regulations. If these constituent concentrations in the
water are below MCLS, the bail water will be disposed of on site.
Soil samples will be analyzed for both TPH-D by EPA Method 8015
modified and BTX&E by EPA Method 8020. Soil samples to be
analyzed for TPH-D will be prepared by EPA Method 3550 using
sonication. Soil samples to be analyzed for BTX&E will be prepared
using EPA Method 5030 (purge and trap). Total Petroleum
hydrocarbons in soil samples will be analyzed and characterized by
Gas Chromatography/Flame Ionization Detection (GCFID) with a
fused capillary column.
'Vater samples will be analyzed for TPH-D by EPA Method 8015
modified and BTX&E by EPA Method 602. Methods of preparation
and analysis of all soil and water samples are summan:ed in Table
2-2 along with target detection limits.
All sample analyses will be performed by Enseco, a State-of-
California-certified laboratory which maintains well-established and
documented quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs.
Enseco strictly adheres to Section 10 ("Quality Control/Quality
Assurance") of "Test Methods for Evaluating Solid Waste" (EPA
3 Staff Report of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board,Central
Valley Region,A Compilation of Water Quality Goals, November, 1989.
Prepared by Jon B.Marshack, D.
