Soil vapor and ground water samples
collected from the wells were analyzed for petroleum constituents historically detected at this site. I
The laboratory data indicates that the concentrations and contaminant mass removed during the
i
DPE test was not the most effective. The soil vapor samples and the ground water samples did not
contain high concentrations of petroleum, but these wells were not in the area of the site where the
highest concentrations are known to exist. As an alternative and to better test the feasibility of the
DPE system, the EHD agrees with the recommendation that the DPE test be repeated and include
MW-1/EW-1. This well is placed in the area of the highest petroleum contamination and using this
well could remove more contamination and better test the feasibility of DPE working at this site.
Please submit a short work plan that describes the procedures to additionally test DPE in MW-1 and
the modifications in testing the new DPE wells. The work plan should be submitted to Geotracker so
the EHD staff can review it by September 19, 2007.
I
Please continue to address your submittals to Michael Infurna. You may contact him at (209)468-
3454 if you wish to discuss the site or make appointments for fieldwork.
Donna Heran, REHS; Director
Environmental Health ent `
Michael J.
