Messrs Trommer and Lars%./ 14 April 2009
Annual Five-Year Review Update Letters Page 2 of 2
Various Sites
1876 Country Club Boulevard, Stockton, CA.
The CUF recommended in Revised 5-Year Review Summary Report, dated 05 March
2009, that the EHD direct the RP to more aggressively remediate this site to achieve
Water Quality Objectives more rapidly; to that end, the groundwater extraction rate has
been increased from 2 gpm to 4 gpm.
110 Filbert Street, N., Stockton, CA.
The CUF continued to recommend in Revised 5-Year Review Summary Report, dated
09 March 2009, that the EHD consider the site for closure. Groundwater in the core area
continues to be impacted by numerous chemicals of concern at concentrations
exceeding water quality objectives. Since early 2007, the groundwater gradient has
shifted from southward to northeastward, a shift that has been consistent. Until this
month there were no monitoring wells toward the northeast, at this time such wells have
been installed, but not yet sampled. Intense odor emanating from samples collected
during installation of the wells indicates a high potential for significant impact toward the
northeast. The EHD will continue to provide close oversight for this site, but cannot
support a recommendation for closure at this time and recommends that your agency
does not issue a closure consideration recommendation at this time.
1717 EI Dorado Street, S., Stockton, CA.
The CUF recommended in Revised 5-Year Review Summary Report, dated 09 March
2009, that the EHD direct the RP to re-implement the remediation system and consider a
more aggressive technology to achieve Water Quality Objectives in the source area
more rapidly. The EHD issued a directive by letter dated 18 March 2009 to submit a
work plan in the context of a site conceptual model for additional delineation by 01 June
2009.
Questions or comments should be directed to Michael J. Infurna, Jr. at (209) 468-3454.
Sincerely,
9 —
Michael J. Infurn , REH Nuel Henderson, PG
Senior Registered Envir nment I Engineering Geologist
Health Specialist
Annual 5-Year Review Comment Letter 041409.doc
