3.0 SITE CHARACTERIZATION INVESTIGATION <br /> To achieve the current site characterization investigation objectives, the following scope of <br /> work was conducted: <br /> 1. 'Permitting and Mobilization <br /> 2. Preparation of Workplan and Health and Safety Plan <br /> 3. Field Investigation <br /> 4. Laboratory Analysis <br /> 5. Investigation Derived Waste.Disposal <br /> Each of these individual efforts are discussed below. <br /> 3.1 Permitting and Mobilization <br /> A drilling permit for three soil borings was procured from PHSEHD. Appendix 1 contains <br /> copies of the PHSEHD drilling permits and project related PHSEHD correspondence. <br /> Underground Service Alert was notified of the subsurface investigation at least 48 hours prior to <br /> 1. <br /> initiation of the investigation. <br /> 3.2 Preparation of Workplan and Health and Safety Plan <br /> A workplan was prepared'that included the project objectives, scope of work, soil and <br /> groundwater boring and sampling procedures, analytical methods, and schedule. The initial site <br /> work plan was submitted to PHSEHD on November 17, 2007. PHSEHD approved the scope of <br /> I; work on December b, 2007. This scope of work was conducted under investigative framework <br /> outlined in the basic initial workplan. A-site specific Health and Safety Plan was prepared in <br /> accordance with 29 Code of Federal Regulations 1910:120. The Health and Safety Plan <br /> procedures for work to be performed at the site, chemical hazard information, site safety <br /> officers,and a preferred medial emergency location. <br /> r <br /> i <br /> .
