Fax: (209) 464-0138 Robert McCleilon,R.E.H.S. <br /> Program Manager Mark Barcellos,R.E.H.S, <br /> APR 1 3 2004 <br /> MICHAEL McCREIGHT <br /> COMPASS GROUP USA <br /> 2400 YORKMONT RD <br /> CHARLOTTE NC 28217 <br /> RE: Canteen Corporation Facility#1757 Site Code: 1727 <br /> 1500 Shaw Road RO#: 000104 <br /> Stockton, CA. 95205 Clean Up Fund Claim #016536 <br /> San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) has reviewed Remediation System <br /> Installation correspondence dated April 2, 2004 as submitted by your consultant, Applied Earth Sciences <br /> (AES) Inc and offers the following comments. <br /> The Remedial Action Plan and Remediation System Design(RAP) dated August 25, 2003, also submitted <br /> by Applied Earth Sciences Inc. was approved by EHD in correspondence dated September 22, 2003. <br /> Since that time,the depth to ground water has dropped and the following modifications were needed to <br /> meet the intent of the RAP: <br /> • one additional air sparge well was installed to replace the existing pilot test air sparge well <br /> because the screened interval did not fully penetrate the water table and, <br /> • the total depth of the new sparge and vent wells had to be increased to accommodate the drop in <br /> ground water. <br /> EHD has decided that these modifications were adequate and necessary(jH&S 25299.37,subd(c)(3)1) <br /> and approves the changes. <br /> EHD offers this approval to support any future needs as Canteen Corporation reimbursement vouchers <br /> are reviewed by the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Clean Up Fund (CUF). <br /> As a reminder, once the permits to construct and operate the remediation systems are issued by the San <br /> Joaquin Valley Unified Air Control District, copies must be submitted to EHD. <br /> You may continue to direct your submittals to Michael Infurna and you may contact him at(209)468-3454 <br /> or by email at minfurna socehd.com. <br /> Donna Heran, RENS, Director <br /> Environmental Health Divi 'on <br /> Michael J.
