discussions with the client and Michael Collins of the County
EHD, an addendum to the above workplan was prepared by WJH which
Proposed to place four (4) groundwater monitoring wells on the
Property in an attempt to define the plume and test the ground-
water for possible contamination. A copy of that addendum, dated
April 15, 1993, is included as APPENDIX J
V-0—IM-PERF-Q 'D BIND _WJH W_O , LANL)ENDUM DATES ARIL _15. 1993
May 24 99 - Osterberg & Stewart Drilling Company mobilized an
auger rig operated by Wally Maggard with Ray Drown, helper. Geo-
logical supervision was provided by Charles H. Fry, Registered
Geologist of Wm. J. Hunter & Associates, (WJH, ) with technical
supported provided by Don Light of Del-Tech. The rig was set up
over the location for "1 UQRING-WELL_ #4; locations of the wells
had been previously marked by WJH Equipment consisted of 8 1/4'
OD flights, which were thoroughly cleaned prior to arriving on
location. Sufficient flights were available to complete each
well without the necessity of cleaning augers. Coring operations
were to be performed using wireline operated equipment which
allows continuous coring if required; a 30" long, split barrel
• containing up to 5, 6" metal containers could be inserted &
withdrawn from the flights quickly with a wire line without the
necessity of using a hammer to drive the core barrel into the
soil However, this type of equipment does not allow blow counts
to be taken.
After breaking through the asphalt, augers were advanced to 10 '
at which point the bit insert was pulled out, and a core barrel
containing clean metal tubes was placed in the hole, and a core
was taken from 10 ' to 2' . The barrel was retrieved with the
wireline, and was laid out on a flat surface and opened.
Recovery was 24" of sandy tan clay. A portion of the core was
placed in a plastic bag & tightly sealed. After sitting for
several minutes, the probe of a properly calibrated PTD meter was
inserted into the bag and allowed to stabilize; no movement of
the needle was noted.
After briefly describing the core, the geologist preserved the
middle sample by covering the ends of the tube with foil &
plastic caps, and thoroughly sealing it with duct tape. The
sample was labeled and placed on ice pending transport. The
remaining core material and the drill cuttings were placed in
metal drums for future disposal. Two core barrels were used;
while coring was being done, the other barrel was thoroughly
cleaned with TSP & clean water and filled with clean metal, tubes.
• The blanking plug was reinserted, and auger flights were advanced
7
