Vapor samples will be collected after approximately two (2) hours of operation and analyzed on a
24-hour basis The systems will be turned off after the start-up sampling and then restarted
immediately following receipt of laboratory results confirming proper treatment efficiency and
compliance with applicable emissions standards
Immediately following the full-tame startup operation of the system, the system will be monitored
daily for up to three (3) days to verify the proper operation of each component, to make necessary
adjustments, and to determine the overall system performance Monitoring activities may cease
sooner than three days, if data obtained from the monitoring indicates stabilization of the influent
vapor hydrocarbon vapor concentrations
D. SYSTEM PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION
Following the initial remediation system start-up, operation and maintenance (O&M) visits will be
made on a biweekly basis During the O&M visits, the following tasks will be performed
• Check or Replace Air Compressor Intake Filters (AS)
• Remove Graphite Dust from Delivery Filter (AS)
• Check or Replace the In-Line Particulate Filter (SVE)
• Drain or Pump-Out Moisture Separator (SVE, as needed)
• Check CPU and Sensor Operations (ICE Unit)
• Check Proper Temperature Settings of ICE Unit
• Change oil and filter on ICE Unit (Monthly)
• Check Operating Amperages of the Various Motors (Monthly)
• Analytical Sampling of Hydrocarbon Vapors (Monthly)
In addition, the equipment will be lubricated and maintained as recommended by the manufacturer
By aggressively maintaining the remediation equipment, greater than 80% system up-time may be
achieved
Based on data from the biweekly O&M visits, the cumulative mass of hydrocarbons removed will
be calculated and graphed versus elapsed system operations time The cumulative hydrocarbon
removal calculations will be compared to the proposed cleanup rate to determine the system
effectiveness The analytical data from the treatment system and from scheduled groundwater
monitoring events will be used to evaluate the system performance in comparison to predicted
remediation rates
The quarterly sampling data will be used to determine which AS and SVE wells will be operated
Initially all AS and SVE wells will be operated Based on the quarterly groundwater monitoring
data, any AS well which is in an area demonstrated to be below the MCLS, maybe shut-down This
V11-2
