3 , SIMPlot SAFETY RULES FOR SUPPLIERS ON <br /> SIMPLOT PREMISES <br /> 1. INTRODUCTION <br /> In the Interest of brevity,the following definitions will be used throughout this booklet* <br /> BUYER -J.R. Simplot Company (Simplot) <br /> SELLER -Any corporation, partnership, individual,joint venture, firm or company that performs work on J.R Simplot's premises. <br /> This directive sets forth the safety rules and procedures which must be followed by the Seller.Sellers are also responsible for providing <br /> their subcontractors with a copy of this directive and seeing that such subcontractors comply with these rules and procedures. <br /> Sellers engaged in construction or services for the Buyer are fully responsible for the safe performance of all work for which they are <br /> contractually committed, whether done by themselves or by their subcontractors THE SELLER MUST PROVIDE ADEQUATE PRO- <br /> TECTION FOR THE HEALTH AND LIFE OF THE BUYER'S EMPLOYEES AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC,AS WELL AS FOR HIS OWN <br /> PERSONNEL. HE MUST COMPLY WITH ALL PROVISIONS OF THE LATEST LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS. <br /> Some of the safety rules which are Ilsted In this directive are similar to local,state and federal regulations,but are repeated for emphasis. <br /> Others are required because of the special nature of the Buyer's equipment, and have evolved from many years of experience. <br /> Naturally,the safety rules given here cannot cover every eventuality. It is expected,therefore,that the seller will exercise good judge- <br /> ment In all safety matters, even though not specifically mentioned. It Is further required that the Seller work closely with the Buyer's <br /> Representative In resolving all safety problems. <br /> 2. PURPOSE <br /> The primary purpose of this directive Is to eliminate personnel Injury and equipment damage by preventing accidents. Unauthorized <br /> personnel shall be kept off the premises to eliminate undue congestion and prevent the possibility of their being Involved in an accident. <br /> Any admittance of union representative or governmental agencies must have prior approval of the Buyer. <br /> 9. GENERAL SAFETY REOUIREMENTS <br /> (1) The Seller must follow the safe practice procedures for all work performed.He will be expected to operate within the regulations <br /> at all times and take the necessary steps to eliminate unsafe working conditions. <br /> (2) The Seller shall comply with all state, local and public safety codes,laws or ordinances pertaining to the work being performed. <br /> (3) BEFORE STARTING THE WORK SPECIFIED IN A CONTRACT, THE SELLER SHALL MEET WITH THE BUYER'S REPRE- <br /> SENTATIVE FOR A BRIEFING ON THE BUYER'S SAFETY STANDARDS FOR THE PARTICULAR JOB <br /> (4) The Seller shall report all injuries sustained by his personnel during the contract period to his Insurance carrier,Two(2)copies of <br /> this report shall also be sent to the Buyer. Reports of all accidents shall be submitted in writing within twenty-four hours. <br /> (5) As required by Workmen's Compensation laws, the Seller must have the required insurance Coverage and Is responsible for <br /> reporting his employee's occupational injuries to the proper authorities.The Seller shall not release any accident Information to <br /> the press. All Inquiries on accidents should be referred to the Buyer for handling. <br /> (6) Instructions (printed or typewritten) are to be strategically posted by the Seller on the procedure to be followed In obtaining <br /> emergency help, e.g , doctor, ambulance, fire department. and police. <br /> (7) Suitable hard hats must be worn at all times by all personnel working at or visting the job site.Hard hats for the Seller's personnel <br /> shall be supplied by the Seller. <br /> (8) Safety glasses suitable for the work being done must be worn by personnel working at or visiting the Job site. <br /> (9) The wearing of safely shoes by all personnel working on the site shall be encouraged <br /> (10) Hearing protection will be worn when conditions warrant. <br /> (11) Smoking is permitted ONLY in areas designated by the Buyer. <br /> (12) Under no circumstances shall alcoholic beverages be permitted on the property.Persons under the Influence of alcohol or drugs <br /> must be Immediately removed from the premises Firearms are prohibited on the property. <br /> (13) The Seller shall conduct weekly safely meetings with his personnel <br /> (14) The Seller's foremen shall explain the safety requirements of the job to each of the men for whom he is responsible.They shall <br /> emphasize the job safety requirements at all times. <br /> (15) The Seller and subcontractor shall Immediately correct any unsafe working condition which may arise. <br /> (16) Special written approval of Buyer's representative is required before work of the following types is performed.A permit must be <br /> obtained and approved by Seller's representative. <br /> (a) Where there is a possibility of oxygen enriched or oxygen deficient atmospheres:acceptable limits are 20 to 22 percent oxygen. <br /> (b) Where toxic agents are used or are present, <br /> (c) Pressure testing. <br /> (d) Work Inside vessels or other enclosures or pits. <br /> (e) Work on electrical c!rcults over 110V. <br /> (f) Torch work on equipment where flammable gases or liquids could be Involved. <br /> (g) In areas or on equipment and on pipe lines which contain hazardous materials. <br /> (17) Suitable and appropriate clothing must be worn while engaged in legitimate company business within the plant perimeters.Short <br /> sleeved shirts are permissible with shoes and full length trousers.Tank tops,tennis shoes,open toed shoes,shorts,and no shirts <br /> worn are not In compliance with the company safety policy Appropriate protective clothing must be worn when working with <br /> hazardous materials or other operations which could cause injury to the lungs, skin. eyes or other body parts. <br /> (18) While work is being performed inside a confined space,at least one designated person shall be immediately available to secureor <br /> render assistance in case of an emergency. <br /> (19) A safety belt with a life line shall be worn by a worker whenever he is required to enter a confined space.Exceptions to this rule <br /> must be approved by the Buyer in writing on the permit. <br /> t00izoo2 d08IiLE"[ 10-W4TS 6TN SCIR 60Z`Q Tt:9T T6/N/60 <br /> Icier--ir` - ..-„�5 a�wre�• �.. - - �w-:-.uyr•- ?i-�-i1-- �.r,�_- '- ._- ,,,�_+-.:....rw,�lis�n__. , <br />
