Addendum to the Well Installation and
Hydraulic Testing Report and Additional
P- ARCADIS Well Installation Work Plan
Former Occidental Chemical Corporation
Lathrop, California
design flow rate on an seasonal basis. Treated groundwater that meets discharge limits for Site COCs
would be supplied to Simplot.A portion of the treated BSW water, currently anticipated to be up to 100
gpm, could be used as the source of water injected into]NJ-12.
Potential Water Quality Effects of INJ-12 Operation
The location of INJ-12 was moved approximately 500 ft west to a location approximately halfway
between the Simplot BSW and proposed extraction wells EW-12 and EW-14. Based on the
groundwater model, injection into INJ-12 will increase the hydraulic gradient towards the extraction
wells, thereby enhancing plume flushing. Oxidation of treated groundwater prior to reinjection will also
enhance in-situ biodegradation of sulfolane. Up to 100 gpm of treated groundwater will be injected into
INJ-12. This is a fraction of the combined groundwater flow rate extracted from wells in the vicinity of
INJ-12.
6. Summary of Proposed Extraction and Injection Well Modifications
Based on recent Site information, several adjustments were made to the construction details and flow
rates of the proposed additional extraction and injection wells. A summary of the proposed extraction
and injection well design is provided in Table 3 below. Following installation, the proposed wells will be
connected to the current groundwater treatment plant or the proposed Simplot BSW treatment system.
Proposed well locations are shown on Figures 7 through 10.
Table 3.Summary of Proposed Well Construction Details
Well Name Well Type Aquifer Zone Well Depth Screen
(ft bgs) Interval`
(ft b s
EW-10 Extraction Water Table Zone 40 10-40
EW-11 Extraction Water Table Zone 40 10-40
EW-12A Extraction Shallow 100 70-100
Intermediate 150 120-150
EW-12B Extraction Deep 200 170-200
EW-13 Extraction Intermediate 150 120-150
EW-14A Extraction Shallow 100 70-100
Intermediate 150 120-150
EW-14B Extraction Deep 200 170-200
EW-15A Extraction Shallow 100 70-100
Intermediate 150 120-150
EW-15B Extraction Deep 200 170-200
EW-16 Extraction Shallow 100 70-100
EW-17 Extraction Water Table Zone 40 10-40
INJ-1 12 Injection Shallow 100 70-100
Intermediate 150 120-150
Deep 200 170-200
2012-09-13 addendum well install work plan—hy lest rpt docx 10
