Work Plan to Install
Additional Monitoring
ARCADIS Wells
Former OCC Lathrop Facility
In addition to contacting USA, a private utility locator will be contracted to assess for
locations of potential underground utilities(e.g., pipes, electrical conductors, fuel lines,
and/or sewer lines)before intrusive work is performed. Each well location will be
cleared to a depth of 5 feet bgs using air-knife or hand-digging methods to further
evaluate for the presence of underground utilities. Proposed well locations may be
adjusted in the field based on the presence of utilities.
3.1.2 Permits and Property Access
A well installation permit will be obtained from the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department(SJCEHD)before drilling activities begin. The wells will be installed
in accordance with the SJCEHD Well Standards(SJCEHD 2005). Property access for
installation of monitoring well clusters PW34, PW35, and PW36 and individual deep
monitoring wells at clusters PW21 and PW25 will be negotiated with the property
owner as necessary. The proposed well locations may be adjusted based on access
requirements with the property owners. The RWQCB will be notified in the event an
alternate location is selected due to access requirements.
3.2 Field Activities
3.2.1 Security Measures
The work exclusion zone will consist of areas in the direct vicinity of each soil boring.
Decontamination control zones(exclusion zone, contamination reduction zone, and/or
support zone)will be established and demarcated in the field.
The control zones will be identified during tailgate meetings, and entrance and exit to
the exclusion zone will only be through controlled access points established for each
work area. A visitor log will be maintained by on-site ARCADIS personnel.
3.2.2 Well Installation
Proposed locations of the 16 additional monitoring wells are presented on Figure 2.
Proposed well construction details including screen intervals are presented in Table 1.
The proposed screen intervals and well construction details are approximate and may
be adjusted based on field conditions. The four new monitoring well clusters(PW33
through PW36)will each consist of three monitoring wells. The two shallower depth
wells within each new proposed cluster will be constructed as nested wells within one
borehole. Additionally, four deep wells will be installed at existing clusters(PW01,
2014.03.13 mw inslallawn Nod plen_F—Ldoc 2
