WC-88-8 OF JIMMY JIRO WATANABE, ET AL (SUPERVISORIAL DISTRICT NO. 3 ) BACKGROUND: Description. The intent of this application is to obtain tentative contract cancellation on 18 . 73 acres of an 86-acre parcel. The 86- acre parcel is located on the south side of Hammer Lane, to the east of the Stockton Auto Center and adjacent to the East Bay Municipal Utility Line, and is the proposed site of the Stockton Auto Center expansion. The Williamson Act contract on most of the 86-acre parcel ( i. e. , approximately 67 acres ) would be nullified when the property is annexed to the City of Stockton. The contract on the subject 18. 73 acres, however, would not be nullified when this portion of the property is annexed to the city thereby necessitating this contract cancellation request. Contract History. The Williamson Act contract on the 86-acre par- cel was entered into on December 21, 1976 and became effective on March 1, 1977. No Notice of Nonrenewal has been issued on this property. CANCELLATION REQUIREMENTS: Findings. By State Law, the Board of Supervisors may grant ten- tative approval for cancelling a contract on Williamson Act pro- perty only if it makes one of the following findings: 1. That the cancellation is consistent with the purposes of the Williamson Act; or 2 . That the cancellation is in the public interest. BOS LETTER PAGE 1
