. .
mum
March 9, 1988
Fire Engine Company No. 21 Stockton, California AGS 078009-1
w+
BACKGROUND
n
Fire Engine Company No. 2 is located at .210 West Sonora Street,
in Stockton, California. The site location is depicted on the
Site Vicinity Map (Plate P-1) . It is our un ' l-standing, from
information supplied by the Department of Public Works, that an
underground gasoline fuel storage tank was excavated and removed
from the site on or before April 1, 1987, by Stockton Service
Station Equipment Company. The past location and configuration
of the former tank is depicted on the Generalized Site Plan
(Plate P--2) .
A soil sample was taken during or after the tank removal
operations on April 1, 1987, The samp4e was analyzed by
California Water Labs, Inc. , of Modesto, California for the
volatile organic constituents benzene, toluene, and xylene, for
total lead, and for total petroleum hydrocarbons. The results of
these analyses are presented in Table 1, and copies of the
laboratory reports are included in the Appendix of this report.
The results indicate that tt_.e concentrations of the volatile
organic constituents benzene, toluene and xylene, and total
petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil near the former tank exceed
allowable levels defined by the San Joaquin Local Health
9
u
,4pp/ied GeoSYWO S
