Lo
Stockton Unified School District
Geological and Environmental Hazards Assessment
CSU-Stanislaus,Stockton Campus School Site
r
Page 21
department building. The pipeline traverses to the east of the old fire station, north to a pipeline that
extends across the southern boundary of the park area, and in its western extension, extends to the north
along the western site boundary, thus feeding the adjacent property located to the west. The eastern
extension traverses the park to the east and veers south to N. Grant Street and the Grant House.
" Mr. Meunier indicated that he was not aware of any high-pressure water pipes on the site and that the
water pipes were pressurized at approximately 45-50 pounds per square inch (psi). When asked whether
the piping insulation wrapped around the interior piping located in the southeastern site storage building
contained asbestos, he indicated that he wasn't sure if it contained asbestos or not.
Mr. Meunier showed Condor what was on the adjacent southeastern area of the parcel. The structures are
bw as follows: an old oil storage room, which Condor entered; an old chemical storage building, this was not
entered; the emergency generator building, also not entered and the location of the SJVAPCD report(see
Appendix G); a fueling station area where three diesel ASTs and one unleaded gasoline AST are located;
the building where old electrical switches are stored, also not entered or fully observed; and an open area
where concrete debris is stored. He also indicated the following: the approximate construction dates of
many buildings and structures ranging from the 1860s into the 1950s; an old tunnel had collapsed in the
northeastern corner of the park area in the recent past, but did not indicate the year of this occurrence;
and Saint Joseph's Hospital had stored some hospital supplies in the storage buildings. The facility
maintenance maps indicated that several buildings had been located on the area currently used as a track
and field.
6.3 INTERVIEW WITH OCCUPANTS
None of the current occupants of the on-site buildings were interviewed.
5.4 INTERVIEW WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
None.
6.5 INTERVIEWS WITH OTHERS
Mr. Tom Melden of Alexander's Custom Spraying/Custom Spraying, Inc., was contacted concerning
pesticide use on the turf located around the track and across N. Grant Street on the park area.He indicated
that he had used an herbicide, Trimeck, for the turf once in March or April of 2002. His services were not
- used before, according to Mr. Melden.
Mr. Don Kresse, a Senior Geologist for Condor Earth Technologies, Inc., indicated that the fourteen 55-
gallon drums are temporarily located on the site and contain soil and groundwater from the investigation
being conducted for the former UST location at the intersection of E. Flora Street and N. Aurora Street.
L. A track and field is currently located where several buildings used to be. According to employee folklore,
those buildings had been razed and compacted into the former basement area, then covered over with fill
under the track and field. Mr. Ray Thatcher, Project Supervisor for Grupe, stated that he could not
confirm nor deny this information due to his unfamiliarity with the site, but he did indicate that in the
process of repairing/installing sprinkler systems, debris such as bricks have been found in the track and
field area in addition to other areas of the entire parcel.
I.r ` CONDOR
