Wrermanc <br /> 1.0 INIRODUC-HON <br /> In accordance with the requirements of San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD), as presented in their letter of May 25, 1993 <br /> (included as Appendix A), Versar, Inc (Versar) has prepared this workplan on behalf of the <br /> State of California, Division of the State Architect (DSA) and the US National Guard Bureau <br /> The purpose of the investigation is to further characterize the extent of petroleum hydrocarbon <br /> impacted soil,and to conduct quarterly monitoring of the groundwater at the US National <br /> Guard Bureau, Stockton Army Aviation Facility m Stockton, California (site) In addition, <br /> the workplan proposes the technical approach for the characterization and disposal of soils <br /> currently stockpiled at the site This workplan was prepared in accordance with the Tn- <br /> Regional Board Stair Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of <br /> Underground Tanks <br /> The following sections resent the scope of work to be conduct <br /> p � ed, site location, site <br /> • history, and description of the site <br /> 1.1 Scope of Woik <br /> The objectives of the investigation are to further characterize the extent of petroleum <br /> hydrocarbon impacted soil identified in previous investigations at the site, and to confirm that <br /> the groundwater beneath the site has not been impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons To <br /> obtain the information requires to meet the first objective, Versar proposes to drill four <br /> boreholes and collect soil samples for laboratory analysis Three of the boreholes will be <br /> located outside the perimeter of the previously identified contamination to define the <br /> maximum lateral extent of the soil contamination The fourth borehole will drilled through <br />' the most highly contaminated area to define the maximum vertical extent of soil <br /> contamination <br /> 1 <br />
