CHRONOLOGY
City of Ripon/Madsen Sunrise Dairy
239 South Stockton Street
Ripon, CA 95366
11/12/09 One three-compartment 12,000-gallon underground storage tank was removed
from the site under permit and inspection by the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department. Soil samples for laboratory analysis were
collected from beneath the tank.
12/18/09 Laboratory analytical results reported 77 mg/kg total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH) as gasoline and 2,000 mg/kg TPH as diesel under the west end of the
tank. Notification of Hazardous Waste Discharge#09-118 filed this date.
12/31/01 Unauthorized Release Form filed this date online to Geotracker. Site placed in
the Local Oversight Program; RO#1975.
01/05/10 Notice of Responsibility and Site Letters sent to the responsible parties: City of
Ripon and Robert& Carol Madsen Trust.
08/05/10 The site investigation began this date with the advancement of four geoprobe soil
borings, GP-1 through GP-4, to total depth of 32 feet below surface grade; soil
and grab groundwater samples were collected for laboratory analysis for TPH as
gasoline and TPH as diesel. See Gettler-Ryan's (GR) Limited Subsurface
investigation Report dated September 30, 2010, available on Geotracker.
11/04/10 A meeting was attended by City of Ripon, Gettler Ryan and EHD to discuss the
next step necessary to obtain the data needed to review the site for closure. It
was agreed that one groundwater monitoring well would be installed down-
gradient (based on review of regional groundwater flow direction maps from
various contaminated sites in the area) from soil sample TW-13, and one angled
soil boring would be installed to collect soil samples below TW-13.
01/13/11 One groundwater monitoring well, MW-1, and one angled soil boring, B-1, were
installed this date. See Gettler-Ryan report Soil Boring and Monitoring Well
Installation Report dated April 5, 2011. Submittal of the report was delayed in
order to include the results from two groundwater monitoring and sampling
events of MW-1, which were conducted two months apart from each other. The
Report recommends site closure.
07/18/11 Case Closure Report dated July 15, 2011, submitted by Gettler-Ryan, was
available on Geotracker this date. In the Report GR presents data supporting
their determination that the site does not present a threat to human health or the
environment, and again recommends site closure.
