San Joaquin County Public Health Services Environmental I
Health Division (SJCPHSEHD) personnel reportedly conducted a review of the
Ripon Nestle facility groundwater monitoring data and has determined that the
groundwater exhibits a predominately north direction of flow. Therefore
monitoring well MW-1 will be installed within a few feet of the north side where the
deepest and highest concentration of diesel was located (Figure 2 Site Map). The
well boring will be drilled using a 10.25 inch outside diameter continuous flight
C hollow stem auger owned and operated by V&W Drilling (C57# 658786). Soil
cuttings will be added to the existing stockpile on site within the fenced yard and
underlain and covered with plastic.
MW-1 will be constructed using 4.0 inch diameter PVC casing with flush threads.
The screened interval will extend from five feet above the water table to fifteen feet
below the water table. Groundwater is expected to be located at about 35 feet below
grade. I€ a significant clay unit is encountered during the drilling of the well, the
well may be seated no greater than 3 ft into that fine grained unit. A 43 sand filter
pack will surround and extend two feet above the 0.020" screened interval. A
granular bentonite transition seal will be installed and hydrated. A surface seal will
