'E
e`
Mobil Oil Corporation KEI-J86-084
Page 3 M August 27 , 1986
CONCLUSIONS
s
The results of the samples indicate that very low to moderate
levels of gasoline constituents are locally present in the soil
and shallow groundwater at the site . According to the State
Department of Water Resources , the shallow groundwater in the
City of Tracy i' of inferior quality and is not used for domestic
purposes . The city of Tracy rely on their water source from deep
aquifer which extends to more than 100 feet .
The presence ofll.gasoline constituents detected in the shallow
groundwater could be in our opinion, either due to accidental
product release : during tank and product lines removal or gas
spillage during!l" tank filling or leakage of line or a combination
thereof . Considerable amount of groundwater was removed by vacuum
truck from the tank pit area and subsequent inspection of the
site on August ,24 , 1986 revealed no sheen or petroleum product on
the water surface.
To date , data collected from the investigation and field
observation indicate no evidence of major gasoline leak. Although
shallow groundwater appears to be impacted , we do not beleive
that gasoline contamination of' the deeper aquifer has occured .
RECOMMENDATIONS'
To define the lateral and vertical extent of the dissolved.
contamination , as required by !the Regulatory Agency , it is
necessary to install four (4) -monitoring wells at the site. Our
proposal for further investigations is attached for your review
and approval . 'k
Please submit this report along with the attached proposal to the
Regional Water Quality Control Board .and San Joaquin County
Health Departmeknt . KEI will commence work with further
investigation ulpon your authorization .
Sincerely ,
Kaprealian Engineering, Inc .
Mardo Kaprealiarh
i
,t
Attachment : Location Map
cc : C.
