Box 2009
Stockton CA 95201
FORMER MOBIL SERVICE STATION, 2375 TRACY BOULEVARD, TRACY - INTERIM REPORT ON
SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
We have reviewed the 16 April 1990 Interim Report on Subsurface Investigation
and Remedial Planning Study, prepared for this site by Alton Geoscience, Inc. ,
(AGI) . The report includes the analytical results from the recent round of
ground water sampling, and the results of aquifer tests performed by AGI .
According to the report, additional investigation will be necessary to define
the extent of ground water contamination and determine the appropriate
remedial measures. Based on the levels of hydrocarbons detected, and the
shallow depth to ground water in this area, we believe the investigation
should include evaluation of the potential for contaminant migration within
the local utility trenches. Employees of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company
rercently noted petroleum hydrocarbons in soil and ground water near the site
during excavation for utility trenches. There are a number of utility
trenches beneath Tracy Boulevard and Grantline Road. Any of these trenches
which reach the water table could potentially act as conduits for contaminant
migration. The operator should be requested to submit a proposal for defining
the extent of impacts to ground water and evaluating the potential for
contaminant migration along these utility trenches.
We understand that two additional off-site monitoring wells have been
installed and sampled since the report was submitted. Construction details
and analytical data for these wells should be provided as an addendum to the
report.
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5731 .
THOMAS D.
