06 October 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 03-1045
Due to a property transfer agreement, AGE advanced three soil probe borings at the site on the 20
August 2003 in the location of the former tank pit, a used oil holding tank, and an area of concern
on the western edge of the building. The results of the investigation are found in AGE's,Preliminary
Site Assessment Report dated 25 August 2003.
CLARIFICATION
Based upon the uncertainty regarding the sampling of the former UST area, AGE previously
proposed to collect soil samples in the area of the former UST to determine if petroleum
hydrocarbon-impacted soil and/or ground water was present beneath the site.
Initially, AGE attempted to use measurements obtained from SJCEHD and assessment reports of
previous activities to locate the tank pit.Conflicting information made locating the tank pit difficult.
Abandoned boring locations were identified in the field, however, their locations were not consistent
with known measurements.
Upon careful observation,AGE was able to identify vertical pipe brackets that appeared to have been
used to secure the former vent pipe associated with the UST. The brackets were attached to the
existing building and the distance measured from the fence line to the bracket location was fairly
consistent with SJCEHD measurements to the tank pit. The previous borings were located 10 to 15
feet east of the tank pit.
Based on the field observations AGE advanced their boring 5 feet off the building south of the
brackets in the area of the former UST.
Please contact our office at(209)467-1006 if you have any questions or comments.
Sincerely,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
Donna Sexton
Staff Geologist
cc: Mr. Steve Dunn
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
