WAMMoV <br /> WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc. <br /> Health and Safety <br /> Page: 2 <br /> 1 .3 Personnel Protective Precautions <br /> During drilling/excavation of soils containing organic <br /> vapors and liquid contaminants , all personnel shall <br /> undertake the following precautions : <br /> 1 .3. 1 Skin/Clothing Protection <br /> - Disposable suits , boots , gloves or rubber boots <br /> and gloves (previously rinsed in detergent TSP) <br /> will be worn at all times . <br /> - Disposable plastic gloves for sampling changed <br /> after each sample) . <br /> - - Hard hats will be worn during drilling/excavation <br /> activities . <br /> - Disposable clothing will be properly disposed of <br /> at the completion of the job. <br /> - 1 . 3. 2 Respiratory/Eye Protection <br /> - During drilling/excavation activities , ambient air <br /> and soil vapor concentrations shall be <br /> continuously monitored by a Photo Ionization <br /> Detector and/or Draeger Tubes . These instruments <br /> shall provide concentration of total organic <br /> vapors (ppn) in air being samples . <br /> - Site perimeter shall also be monitoring on 60 <br /> minute intervals , if organic vapors are <br /> encountered during drilling . Monitoring frequency <br /> would be increased by the site manager , if <br /> conditions approach alarm level . <br /> - Vapor concentration action levels and <br /> corresponding responses are described below. <br /> 1.4 Site Personnel <br /> Breathing zone vapor concentrations at the <br /> borehole/excavation greater than the ¢permissible <br /> Exposure Limits (PELs ) require site personnel to use <br /> respirator with organic vapor cartridges and goggles . <br /> Breathing zone vapor concentrations at the <br />
