i
FARR ASSOCIATES
The jars will then be sealed, Iabeled and immediately placed in a chilled cooler for transportation
to a laboratory. Proper chain-of-custody procedures will be followed during sample collection
and delivery to the laboratory.
Unless specified otherwise, a total of three composite samples will be created by combining four
soil samples each. The three composite samples will be analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-o, TPH-d,
BTEX, and total lead. Samples collected from drums that yielded high HNu readings during field
screening will be analyzed individually.
3.1.3 Decontamination of Sampling Equipment
All equipment will be decontaminated prior to use at the site and between sampling locations.
Decontamination will consist of washing equipment with Alconox soap in deionized water and
rinsing with deionized water.
3.2 Disposal of Drums and Drummed Material
3.2.1 Disposal of Water
If the analyses yield concentrations within acceptable levels, then a letter will be written to the
Director of Municipal Utilities in Stockton, California requesting a special permit to dispose of
the water directly to the municipal sewer. Once the permits are obtained, a septic hauler will be
retained to transport and dispose of the water.
In the past, groundwater samples from the wells have typically yielded low to non-detect
concentrations of TPH and BTEX. It is therefore believed that the samples will be acceptable to
the City of Stockton. If, however, the composite samples yield concentrations unacceptable to
the City, the individual samples used to create the composite sample will need to be analyzed.
Drums of water not meeting the City's requirements will be sent to a treatment facility. Costs for
the additional analysis and treatment are not included in this work plan.
3.2.2 Disposal of Soil and Drums
After the soil analysis has been completed, the drums will be properly labeled, manifested and
shipped to Forward Landfill (a Class 2, Subtitle D landfill) in Stockton for disposal.
3.3 Summary Report
A brief report will be prepared and delivered to San Joaquin County PHS/EHD and the Union Ice
Limited Partnership describing the results of the sampling and disposal activities. Copies of all
laboratory analyses and disposal manifests will be included in the report.
3
uoionice,'proposa L doe
