gmg
Union fee Compa"
Union Street Facility
Final Rowdiation Plan
Page. 2
3.0 EXCAVATION BENEATH TANK##3
Soil excavation beneath Tank#13 was terminated at 25',as the excavator could not go
any deeper. Odor and color seemed to be gone at that depth. The excavation in the
north wall was terminated, as it jeopardized the integrity of a utility pole and storm
drain. The soil sample was taken in an area about 6' from the bottom of the
excavation, and discoloration was in an apparent "pocket." Discoloration was removed
.a
above, below, and to both sides of the area sampled. The pocked encompassed an area
approximately 6' in diameter.
4.0 SOIL COMPOSMON
Soil composition to a depth of 25 feet consisted of a plastic, heavy clay, which is
bypical in the Stockton area. No other soil types were encountered or observed in the
excavation.
Depth to first groundwater is 57', based on the groundwater contour map from.the
Department of Water Resources for the Spring of 1989 and Historical Groundwater
Levels in San Joaquin County Department of Water Resources, April 1990.
Groundwater is believed to be unaffected, based on analytical data, distance to
groundwater, and type of contaminants in the soils.
5.0 aGROUADWATER GRALI+lF.NT
Actual gradient in this area is south to southwest, according to the Department of Water
Resources Spring of 1989 groundwater map.
6 0 PROD MYON WELT.
There is a production water well at this site owned by Union Ice. No records could be
-- -- - - -- --found as to when-the-well-was drilled or-who drilled-it.--Samples-were takenatthe- --- --- -_ -----
request of the San Joaquin Health Department(results are in the Figures section). No
contaminants were found in this well. We were not able to access the well to measure
either depth to groundwater or depth of the well.
s
