No
gasoline was detected in the soils in the floor of the excavation, or in the walls of the
excavation. Oil and grease was detected in the south end of the floor and in the north
r . wall of the excavation. We also found ethylbenzene at 57 mg/kg in tite South fluor
sample.
On March 2, 1990, Tanks#1 and N2 were re-sampled, at the request of the San Joaquin
County Health Department, by using a (krill rig. Original "none detected" results were
verified by those analysis.
Soil excavation beneath Tank N3 was terminated at 25', as the excavator could not go
any deeper. Odor and color seemed to be gone at that depth. The excavation in the
north wall was terminated, as it jeopardized tite integrity of a utility pole and storm
drain. The soil sample was taken in an area about 6' from the bottom of the excavation,
F and discoloration was in an apparent "pocket." Discoloration was removed above,
below, and to both sides of the area samplcd. Tile pocket encompassed all area
approximately 6' in diameter.
j
4.0 OBJECTIVE
The objective of this Phase 11 Remedial Work Plan is to attempt to determine if groand
water has been impacted by the release of hydrocarbons in the soil by installing one (1)
monitoring well in the former tank location (figure 2).
5.0 SITE WORK PIAN
This investigation includes the placement of one (1) four inch (4") ground water moni-
tonng well in the northeast corner of the service yard, where the former 100 gallon u l
tank was located. Ground water, at this site, is approximately 60 feet, therefore, the
well will be terminated at approximately 70 feet. According to the Department of water
Resources Spring of 1989 groundwater map, the actual gradient in this area is south to
southwest.
5.1 Drilling
Permits will be obtained, as necessary, for the well before drilling begins. The
W soil boring will be accomplished using a mobile mounted drilling rig employing
