Florido,Elianna [EHD]
From: Kristin Elliott<kelliott@dollargeneral.com>
Sent: Friday,October 30,2020 1:20 PM
To: Florido, Elianna [EHD]
Cc: Environmental Compliance;Eric Voyles
Subject: RE:HW Inspection Responses for San Joaquin Dollar General Locations
Attachments: Dollar General#13592 Multiple CA Manifests-Final.pdf
CAUTION:This email is originated from outside of the organization. Do not click links or open attachments unless you recognize the
sender and know the content is safe.
Good afternoon Elianna,
Thank you for the detailed response and attached is the revised manifest correction letter
to address the items detailed in your 3rd question.
I can provide clarity on your first question,
1. Based on Dollar General's SOP 15, SOP 31, and Environmental Compliance Training Program policies it is my
understanding that expired over the counter medicines, including expired smoking cessation items, would be
considered "potential safety hazardous items" (SOP 15) and should be "scanned out"and placed in the
appropriate hazardous waste container immediately, rather than left in the Damage Control Center boxes which
are inspected only once a week. Please confirm if my understanding is correct.
"immediately scanned out" is not a process that all DG associates are qualified to
execute, as there are inventory management controls in place to ensure that products are
appropriately removed from inventory. The process of scanning items out of inventory is
executed by our Assistant & Store Managers only. If an associate recovers a
damaged/expired product on the sales floor, they are to remove the product from the
sales floor to prevent the sale of the item and place in the receiving room for their
manager/assistant to review the product. The store manager/Assistant will review the
product during the next damage to Zero event/shift and at that time make a waste
determination and place the item in the appropriate hazardous waste bin.
The damage station's primary function is for the Store manager and Assistant to
efficiently manage products that have not yet been removed from inventory.
Please let me know if you have additional questions or need further documentation and
thank you again for your time to help us bring our store back into compliance.
Thanks
Kristin Elliott
Environmental Services Manager
Dollar General Corporation
100 Mission Ridge
Goodlettsville, TN 37072
Phone: 615-855-5365
Mobile: 629-203-1646
From: Florido, Elianna [EHD] <eflorido@sjgov.org>
Sent:Tuesday, October 27, 2020 3:45 PM
To: Kristin Elliott<kelliott@dollargeneral.com>
i
