D&S proposes to abandon the cistern well by excavation of the west side of the cistern
to the base of the concrete to fully expose the 14 inch diameter iron casing. Depth to
static water is approximately 72 feet below ground surface in this well. Approximately 6
to 8 sacks of 318 inch bentonite pellets will be placed in the wellbore until a seal
approximately 3 feet above the water table in the Nellbore is attained. Neat cement will
then be either free-fall dropped or tremmed into tl e bottom of the hole. It is anticipated
that approximately 2 to 3 cubic yards of neat cement will be required to complete the
filling of the well bore. Sufficient concrete will be Aaced in the wellbore until the
concrete will form a cap of severalinches in height over the top of the casing. The
excavation at the base of the cistern will then be backfilled with pea gravel or with
native soil that will be compacted to 90% of maximum field density.
The domestic and agriculture wells will be abandoned with specific proposals that will
be submitted to PHSEHD after detailed information has been acquired on each of the
wells.
We will conduct this work as soon-as possible. If you have any questions please do
not hesitate to contact me at (209) 369-9421 or ( 09) 826-1570. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
FOR D&S DRAGLINE SERVICE INC.
1°f
Ste hen G. Muir
Agent
