2.0 WORKPLAN TECHNICAL APPROACH
A review of the area surrounding the High Hopes Ventures property indicates that only
a limited chance exists for any nearby off-site soil and groundwater hydrocarbon
contamination sources. The horizontal and vertical delineation of soil hydrocarbon
contamination at the High Hopes Property has not been determined at this time.
The sequencing of tasks identified in this workpla i is designed to comply with the
LUFT Assessment and Remediation Guidelines {('aRWQCB, 1989) and the Tri-Regional
Board Guidelines for site investigations (CRWQC , 1991).
TASK 1: EXPLORATORY SOIL BORING
Subsurface utility clearance and facility mapping May be conducted on the site prior to
any subsurface exploration. The utility clearance and mapping effort will coordinate
Underground Service Alert clearance and mapping activities on the subject property.
Locations of subsurface utilities will be marked or the property ground surface using
standard Underground Service Alert color marking codes for subsurface utilities.
It is anticipated that approximately 2 to 4 soil borings will be advanced to the
groundwater surface or approximately 50 feet below grade in locations around the
perimeter of the site and adjacent to the former underground storage tank locations.
Exhibit 2 depicts the approximate location of the proposed soil borings. These
locations may change depending on the initial results of the drilling program.
Prior to implementation of the soil boring or exploratory trenching program, a health
and safety program will be reviewed with all personnel. A health and safety plan has
been developed using the previously obtained soil analytical data and it has been
3
