• Steven Sasson, Senior REHS
February 16, 1995
Page 2
1. Collecting data regarding the extent of the known soil plumes related to all eight tanks.
2. Addressing for the first time, the potential for both groundwater and soil impact in the
vicinities of Tank Nos. 1, 2, and 8.
3. Collecting groundwater data to determine the lateral on-site extent (width) of the plume
associated with Tank No. 7. This will be accomplished by the installation of four new
monitoring wells.
4. Collecting groundwater data to determine the downgradient off-site extent of the plume
associated with Tank No. 7. This will be accomplished in two phases:
a. First Phase - Rapid collection of "grab" groundwater samples; and
b. Second Phase - Installation of five new monitoring wells to confirm the results
of the "grab" groundwater samples.
(The IFB is attached as Exhibit 2.)
The following three firms will be responding to the IFB:
1. GEI/Roger Foott;
2. Geological Audit; and
3. Raney Geotechnical.
Their responses are due February 22, 1995. We intend to award the contract by March 1,
1995 and we are hopeful that the assessment work will commence shortly thereafter.
Finally, I wish to confirm that our workplan will be due by March 15, 1995 and not
March 5, 1995 as stated in your correspondence.
While the Scope Of Work in the IFB is extensive and we are hopeful that we will be
able to define the extent of all the plumes within this particular Scope of Work, we are unable
to guarantee that more delineation work will not be required. To address this possibility, the
IFB has been structured to allow for further delineation work on a unit cost basis in accordance
with USTCF policy.
1HIAlEgTMANN & S EE'1[ NESS
