Madison 424 N.Van Buren
Stockton,California Stockton,California
Page l l
Three monitoring wells are also required as part of the specified scope of work. In order
to continue the existing monitoring well numbering system, the first well (MW10) will be
installed approximately 20' west into the public right of way of Madison Street from the
curbing adjacent to the Site. All costs for permits, with the possible exception of bond
costs, must be included in bid costs. Monitoring well MW11 will be located
approximately 20' west of MW2. The wells will be targeted to 50' total depth with a
screened interval between 50' BGS to 15' BGS. The third well, MW-12 is to be located
northwest of the former tank nest as indicated on Figure 4.
MW10 will require an encroachment permit from the City of Stockton prior to
installation. As this well is targeted for installation within Madison Street, a traffic
control plan must be produced and permission obtained from the City of Stockton during
installation of this well. All costs for these activities must be included in the proffered
bid.
Wells MW10, MW11 and MW12 are intended to be installed with a hollow-stem auger
drilling rig using at a minimum 8" O.D. augers and completed as 2" I.D. monitoring wells
with traffic rated flush mounted well covers ("Christy Boxes"). Construction techniques
shall be in accordance with USEPA SW-846 ( and other sources of technical guidance
such as the RCRA Ground Water Monitoring Technical Enforcement Guidance
Document [TEGD], 1986 and draft 1992 revisions) and California Code of Regulations
Title 23, subchapter 16, sections 2647 and 2648. a4,d W1
Soil samples are to be collected every five feet, beginning at 10' BGS and continuing
with the last sample to be collected in the capillary fringe, if possible. For estimating
purposes, the same protocol applies for wells as applies for the CPT soil sampling
locations. A total of five soil samples per well should be used for cost estimation
purposes. Each sample is to be analyzed by the protocols stated above for CPT collected
soil samples.
Drill spoil and development waters will be appropriately drummed and stored on site for
disposal by the Site owner(s) at their expense. Bidders must include costs for
development of the wells, and purging and sampling the wells after a recovery period of
72 hours after development. The same analytical regime is specified for the two water
samples as is specified above for the soil samples.
A future bid specification will address any requirements for assessment services inside of
the repair shop for all four potential source areas on the Madison Street Property.
