Jeffery Wong 7h3aftfello
San Joaquin County Environmental Division
22 December 2003
Page 3
We propose to advance up to 5 borings in the vicinity of monitoring well MW-3 to determine if
high residual contamination is present, and to help delineate the boundaries of a potential soil
excavation. Two additional borings will be placed up to 40 feet down-gradient of MW-3 to help
delineate the extent of potential impacts. Figure 1 shows the proposed soil boring locations.
The actual locations of some borings may vary depending upon field conditions.
Samples will be collected using a direct push method with a cased hole. Groundwater samples
will be collected from a temporary well casing in the borehole. Selected cased borings may be
covered and left open overnight in order to determine if free product is present. Soil samples
will be continuously collected. The borings will extend to approximately 25 feet below ground
surface (bgs)to obtain soil and groundwater samples. Immediately after collection, samples will
be labeled, and placed in an iced cooler. All groundwater samples and selected soil samples will
be submitted to a California state certified laboratory for analysis using chain of custody
protocols. All samples submitted for analyses will be analyzed for TPH-g and volatile organic
compounds (VOCs) using EPA Method 8260.
All soil, groundwater and decontamination water generated during this scope of work will be
stored on site in drums pending analytical results. All borings will be closed by pressure
grouting in accordance with San Joaquin County requirements.
SCHEDULE
Above ground demolition (down to building foundations) is scheduled to begin during the third
aY'IMAh week of 3anuary 2W4. We would like to proceed with the site investigation prior to 15
January 2003. If you have any questions regarding this workplan please call.
Sincerely yours,
TREADWELL & ROLLO, IN OED G 0,
Coy \O G. D/ c
No. 7066 V
David G.
