I
' 19 November 1997
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0143
' 1 D Nos 82636 - 82644) and chain-of-custody forms are Included in Appendix B
' 4.0. SUMMARY/CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes
' 0 Ground water elevation decreased an average 0 72 feet between August and November 1997
The Inferred ground water flow direction was towards the north to northeast at a maximum
' gradient of 0 0043 ftlft north of the site and at a gradient of 0 0014 ft/ft on the south portion
of the site
• Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in wells MW-10, MW-15, MW-16 and MW-17,
thereby delineating the maximum horizontal extent of Impacted ground water The plume
of Impacted ground water does not appear to be actively migrating
• Free product was not encountered at the site during the August monitoring event However,
ground water Is above the screened Interval in MW-3,which could prevent the detection of
free product, if present
• Between August and November 1997,total petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations generally
Increased at the site In general, hydrocarbon concentrations have followed a fluctuating,
poorly defined trend since quarterly monitoring began
• TPH-g, benzene, toluene, DIPE, 1,2-DCA, sec-butylbenzene and isopropylbenzene were
detected in the sample collected from MW-14 Detection of these constituent may Indicate
the leading edge of a hydrocarbon plume
• A hydrocarbon plume also exists on the Crystal Cream and Butter Company property,
Iocated west of the subject property It Is not clear weather the constituents detected In MW-
14 originate from the subject property or from the Crystal Cream and Butter Company site
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
' Based upon data collected during the November 1997 sampling event, AGE recommends
I0 Investigation of the possibility that contaminants detected in MW-14 originated from another
site Files related to the Crystal Cream and Butter Company site should be examined to
determine the extent of Impacted ground water and constituents detected at that site
IInstallation and operation of the approved remediation system should be Initiated now that
• a Remedial Action Work Plan(RAWP)has been submitted and approved by the PHS-EHD
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
I
