25 August 1995
AGE-NC Project No 95-0143
chain-of-custody form are presented in Appendix D
4 4 2 WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the water samples from probings GP25, GP26 and GP28 at concentrations
of 540 ppb, 2,900 ppb and 4,000 ppb, respectively Benzene was detected in samples from probmgs
GP21, GP25, GP26 and GP28 at concentrations of 16 ppb, 77 ppb, 560 ppb and 7 4 ppb,
respectively Low concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected in several
samples The analytical results are summarized on Table 4 The laboratory report and chain-of-
custody form are presented in Appendix D
5.0. CONCLUSIONS & RECOMMENDATIONS
5 1 HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
• Only low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in two soil samples collected at
depths of 25 feet (GP 18 & GP21) Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in samples collected
at a depth of 20 feet in either of these bonngs
Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected from probings GP20, GP22 and
GP24, defining the eastern and southern extent of impacted soil
5 2 HYDROCARBON-Uv PACTED GROUND WATER
Elevated concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in all monitoring wells located on
site Moderate concentrations of hydrocarbons detected in water samples collected from probmgs
GP25, GP26 and GP28 indicate that these probings are within the impacted ground water plume
Low concentrations of benzene, toluene and xylenes were detected in water samples from probings
GP 19, GP21 GP27 and GP29 These probing locations appear to be near the western extent of
impacted ground water Only low concentrations of toluene and xylenes were detected in the water
sample collected from GP20, defining the southeastern extent of the contaminant plume
No hydrocarbons were detected in the water sample collected from probing GP32 and only xylenes
were detected in samples from probings GP31 and GP34 at slightly above reporting linuts defining
. the down-gradient extent of unpacted ground water Only low concentrations of toluene and xylenes
were detected in the water sample collected from probing GP30, giving definition to the eastern
