I21 November 2001
• AGE-NC Project No 95-0143
monitoring wells MW-3, MW-6,MW-7 and MW-9 at concentrations ranging from 330 4g/1(MW 6)
to 150,000 µg/1 (MW-3) BTEX compounds were detected in wells MW-3, MW-6, MW-7 and
MW-9 at concentrations as high as 35,000 4g/1 toluene (MW-3) MTBE and other fuel oxygenates
were not detected in samples collected from the site during the August 2001 sampling event
Figure 4 illustrates the approximate extent of TPH-g and benzene contamination in ground water
Measurable free product was not encountered in any of the wells on the site Analytical results of
ground water samples collected during the August 2001 monitoring event are summarized on
Table 2 Analytical results of historical ground water samples are summarized on Table 3 The
laboratory report (MAI Laboratory lDs 74958 through 74969) and chain-of-custody forms are
included in Appendix B
I
4.0. SUMMARY/CONCLUSIONS
Based upon data collected from the site, AGE concludes
• Ground water elevation decreased approximately 0 74 feet between May 2001 and
August 2001 Groundwater elevation was within the screened interval of MW-16, MW-17,
MW-22, MW-23, MW-24 and the five vapor extraction wells, but above the screened
I interval of the other seven monitoring wells The inferred ground water flow direction
remains variably toward the north to northeast at the site
• Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in four of the twelve ground water monitoring wells
sampled at concentrations ranging from 330 µg/1 (MW-6) to 150,000 µg/1 (MW-3) MTBE
and other fuel oxygenates were not detected in the analyzed ground water samples collected
during the August 2001 monitoring event Historically, only low concentrations (<7 µg/1) of
fuel oxygenating compounds have been detected at the site since monitoring for these
compounds began in August 1997
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon data collected during the August 2001 and previous sampling events,AGE recommends
IContinued quarterly monitoring of the ground water monitoring well system on the site The
next quarterly monitoring should be performed in November 2001, concurrent with
monitoring at the Madison site
Advanced GeoEnvironmentai,Inc
I
