10 December 2001
AGE NC Project No 95-0143
Purged ground water generated during the 8-hour step draw-down test was containerized in an on-
site 5,500-gallon poly tank, purgedwater generated during the 24-hour constant rate draw-down test
was containerized m an on-site 20,000-gallon steel tank
3 1 8-HOUR STEP DRAW-DOWN PUMPING TEST
Prior to initiation of the test the depth-to-ground water was measured the extraction well EW-3
m
and in observation wells EW-4, MW-3, MW-7, MW-9, VW-1, VW-2 and VW-4 using a Solinst
water level meter During the pumping, test depth to water was measured in extraction well EW-3
at approximately 15- to 30-nunute intervals and in the seven observation wells at approximately
1-hour intervals Copies of field logs are included in Appendix A
The pumping test consisted of extracting ground water from extraction well EW-3 utilizing a 4-inch
diameter submersible Grundfos Rech-flo pump Pumping began at six gallons per minute (gpm),
after 135 minutes, the pumping rate was increased to eight gprn. The pumping rate was increased to
ten gpm after approximately 245 minutes of pumping Approximately 4,000 gallons of water were
10 extracted from EW-3 during the eight-hour test
' 3 1 1 Pump Test Results
During the variable rate pumping test (6 to 10 gpm), the maximum ground water drawn-down in
extraction well EW-3 was observed to be 8 42 feet after 410 minutes of pumping operation
(Table 2) Maximum draw-down was observed In the observation wells as follows
• EW-4(located 10 feet toward the north) at 0 77 feet after 350 minutes of pumping operation,
MW-3 (Iocated 12 feet toward the northeast) at 0 48 feet after 410 minutes of pumping
operation,
• VW-2 (located 24 feet toward the northwest) at 0 28 feet after 410 minutes of pumping
I operation,
MW-7 (located 48 feet toward the west)at 0 18 feet after 3 50 minutes of pumping operation,
• VW-4 (located 48 feet toward the southwest) at 0 18 feet after 350 minutes of pumping
operation,
• VW-1 (located 54 feet toward the west) at 0 17 feet after 3 50 minutes of pumping operation,
and
Advanced GeoEnvtronment4 Inc
